Top 4 Best RV Antifreeze

In my article how to winterize an RV, I mention that you will need RV antifreeze to winterize your camper. Here I list my Top 4 Best RV Antifreeze.

RV antifreeze is very different than automotive antifreeze. Though they both perform similar functions RV antifreeze is non-toxic while automotive antifreeze can kill you.

best rv antifreeze

The reason RV antifreeze has to be non-toxic is that you’ll be running it through the plumbing in your RV which ultimately runs your hot and cold drinking water.

But remember, just because it’s non-toxic doesn’t mean it is safe to consume. It is not so keep away from children and animals.

Here are the Top 4 Best RV Antifreeze you should consider for winterizing your RV.

The Splash Brand RV Antifreeze is another great product I recommend and a good runner-up to my best RV antifreeze list. It is highly rated on Amazon and is very affordable.

It is a non-ethylene product made with a plant-derived additive. It offers burst protection down to -50 degrees. It is biodegradable and non-toxic.

You can use it in your RV, boats, spas, hot tubs, etc. It comes in a one-gallon just that weighs about 8 pounds.

Camco takes a slightly different approach to give you an RV antifreeze. This antifreeze comes as a concentrate (36 ounces) in a one-gallon plastic container. You then add water to make one gallon.

I imagine the reason they do this is to save on shipping costs. It’s a lot cheaper to ship something that weighs 36 ounces rather than 8 lbs.

The Camco RV antifreeze gives you burst protection down to -50 degrees like all the others on this list. It is non-toxic and 100% biodegradable.

This package includes two bottles with 36 ounces of concentrate each. Though it is very well rated it is rather expensive compared to some other brands or what you might be able to purchase locally.

Best RV Antifreeze Final Thoughts

Any of the RV antifreeze noted above will do the job quite well. Where I have a problem with all of them is the price. They tend to be more expensive than what you can find locally and due to the weight of the bottle (6-8 lbs) shipping is going to be high as well.

I would recommend you only order online f you are so far away from an RV dealer that it doesn’t make sense to make the trip.

Here is another article I wrote on how to keep your pipes from freezing which I think you might find useful.

Below you will find several questions related to RV antifreeze and here is a datasheet describing some safety procedures.

What is the Difference Between RV Antifreeze and Regular Antifreeze?

Regular antifreeze like what is used in automobiles is poisonous and toxic to humans, animals, and the environment. RV antifreeze is non-toxic and is used to protect your water system.

What color is RV antifreeze?

RV antifreeze is usually pink and slushy, however, I have seen blue-colored antifreeze. There typically is no difference.
