Hiking, fishing, swimming in lakes, sitting outside covered in bug spray, are all things that you may experience while enjoying RV life which will inevitably lead you to need a shower by the end of the day. Or weekend. We don’t judge.

But to many RVer’s disappointment, the standard shower head in your RV bath leaves a lot to be desired.

I have great news for you, you do not have to settle for the shower head that came with your RV! That’s right, you can swap that junky ol’ shower head out for something better made, less wasteful, and more powerful!

Questions about the RV shower head change out

Is there anything I should know before I get started?

You don’t need to be a professional plumber to be successful with changing out the shower head in your RV.

Just remember to make sure the water is off before you begin to prevent an accidental shower before you’re ready!

How do I replace just the shower head?

Replacing just the shower head is as simple as unscrewing the old shower head from the hose and screwing on the new one.

A wrench may be necessary if the shower head has been screwed on tightly but in most cases, your hand strength should be sufficient.

If you do need to use a wrench and are concerned about scratches, place a thin cloth between the shower head and the wrench before tightening or loosening.

How do I replace the hose and the shower head?

If you are changing out the hose and shower head you’ll want to unscrew the hose from the water supply in the shower.

Then you can connect your new hose where you disconnected the old one and finally attach the shower head.

Can I remove any of the old mounts or rings?

If you remove the original mount or rings to replace it with a new mount or ring that does not require screws, we suggest filling the holes with a kit specifically made to repair holes for fiberglass showers or whichever type of shower surround you have in your RV.

The same advice would be given if you’re simply moving the existing or new mount to a new location within the shower.

That’s it. That’s all there is to changing out a shower head in your RV. If you still are unsure that this is something you will be able to handle without assistance, visit youtube and search for how-to videos of RV shower head changeouts. You will be able to see just how simple the process really is!

Final Thoughts

Regardless of which shower head you choose, we know you won’t regret changing it! The increase in water pressure and appearance are well worth the minimal money and time spent to replace the boring, weak-pressured shower head that came standard with your RV.
